First Response Courses
The First Response courses are run with a high element of fun and humour. The courses also have a high level of participant input, as the experiences of active Scout Leaders give the best insite into the types of accidents and incidents that can and do occur at activities. These courses can be run for groups numbering between 12 and 20 participants and are organised on a single full day basis. EDSFAT can arrange courses for specific groups, or groups of individuals, and are a useful chance for Explorers Scouts to gain the basic First Aid qualification required to become a leader. However, due to EDSFAT being very busy for a large proportion of the year these courses need to be arranged at least 6 months in advance. Please contact us to discuss.
Extract from 1st Response Working Group:
1st Response is a training package designed to help leaders within The Guide Association and The Scout Association build up their confidence and skills to cope should an incident occur. Knowing what to do and what your limitations are is important as incidents can happen at any time – at a unit meeting, out-of-doors, on a residential event etc. You may be the first person to arrive at the scene of an emergency and you will need to take control of a situation until somebody more experienced can take over from you. This includes dealing with the first aid emergency as well as coping with other people and dangerous situations.
